Week 7 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week is Respect, by Aretha Franklin. I've already heard this song before so I knew I would already like it for my blog post. I love the mood this puts me in, it's super upbeat and fun! I love all the different instruments that are in this song it really adds a lot of depth to the track. One of the parts that I love is the beginning intro of this song when it's just instruments. It sets a really good tone for the rest of this song. The song is super fun, but I'm pretty sure it has a deeper meaning that isn't as fun. It talks about showing respect, which a lot of woman especially black woman didn't really get during this time period. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I got out of this song haha. I love when songs have deeper meanings than what the average listener might pick up. Overall, I loved this song and the vibe it gives off, super fun to listen to!

Week 6 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was, Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles. What I first noticed about this song was the beginning of this song was trending on Tik Tok recently, which I didn't even know when I chose this song. It just goes to show that these great songs really do live on forever, especially when it's by The Beatles haha. I honestly really liked this song, it sounds really similar to the songs that I listen to now, like the alternative kind of vibe. Another thing that I really liked about this song was the instrumentals in it. I like how it's not the usual instruments that are in rock bands, the instrument that stood out to me the most was the violin, I think that's what it was. I love the different parts it would play. I also loved the vocals in the song, it went with the music so amazing. I also loved when they would have the backup vocals, I liked the variation it added. Overall I loved this song, and it was super fun to listen to.

Week 5 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was, "Sh-Boom" by The Chords. I chose this song because it is very nostalgic for me and I loved listening to it in class. First off I love the title of this song, I feel like it's more of a noise rather than an actual word haha. I feel like it reflects really well on the vibe of this song, because it does have a lot of scat singing which I think is really fun. I really love how as soon as I hit play to listen to this song I immediately recognized the song. It has such a fun and upbeat vibe, I love it. Another thing that I really liked about this piece was the instruments in the back, I loved when that one instrument, I'm not sure what it was, had a solo it was something fun to spice up the song. I will have to admit though, after listening to this song three times it was getting a little bit annoying, since the song is very repetitive. Overall I love this song and the mood it puts me in!

Week 4 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was, Great Speckled Bird, by Roy Acuff. I personally don't like country music really at all, and so I would most likely never listen to this song in my free time. What I did think was really interesting about this song was the symbolism behind it. I'm pretty sure that the "Great Speckled Bird" in this song is representing the church. Which I'm really surprised how popular this was since it talked about the church for basically the whole song. I was not expecting this song to have these lyrics because the music was really light hearted and fun, and than the lyrics were about church. I feel a lot of times church songs don't sound like that haha. I also really liked the usage of the instruments in this song. It would have a pretty steady beat and than out of no where a high pitched sliding sound would play. Overall I thought this was a pretty interesting song, with a cool meaning.
