  My Blue Heaven The song that I chose to listen to was, My Blue Heaven by Gene Austin. I really liked the vibe that I got from this song. It was very peaceful, and I loved the nature sounds in the background. The sound in the back sounded like rain, and occasionally they would have a bird whistling in it. I feel like this song could almost be a lullaby because of how peaceful and calming it sounds. Gene Austin's voice in this song sounds so relaxed, it goes perfect with the music. It's almost as if the music is playing to his voice, instead of him singing to the music. He definitely sounds like he is crooning with this song. The way his voice goes up and down in the song goes perfect with the music. I'm not sure who the target audience is for this song, but it does sound like it would be a love song I think.   Maple Leaf Rag, by Scott Joplin The song that I chose to listen to was, Maple Leaf Rag by Scott Joplin. This song didn't have any lyrics in it, from what I could hear it sounded like it was only being played by a piano. The piece was very exciting, for the whole song there was something interesting happening the whole time. We talked about this song in class, how this genre of music was breaking the norm. This song is not something that would always be played on the piano. It is fun, exciting, and I really am not able to tell what's coming next. My favorite part of the song is when it would go really fast on a higher octave, and than slow down really fast on a lower octave. From the beginning of the song it's fast and upbeat, all the way until the song is finished. I think the target audience, during the time period when it was released, is for teenagers.
