Week 12 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to was Thrift Shop by Macklemore and Lewis. I love this song and it is super nostalgic for me. I think if you play this song basically anywhere people will know it and start singing. Growing up me and my friends loved listening to Macklemore and this was one of our favorites. I love the beat to this song and I automatically start bobbing my head to it. This song came out in 2012 when thrifting wasn't super popular. So it's super interesting because now it is super trendy! So this song goes perfectly with that now. I really like the beginning of the song when they include a lot of different beats and different aspects of sound. It creates a really good sound that is super iconic. I love the vibe that I get from this song, it's super fun and always gets me excited.

Week 11 Blog Post

The song that I chose this week was Walk This Way by Run DMC and Aerosmith. The reason that I chose this song is because I remember doing it on Just Dance haha. I love the beat to this song, it's super catchy and I'm always bobbing my head to it. One of the things that I really like about this song are the instruments in it, and I love the solos that they have. Another thing that I noticed was how they are using more technology in their songs, it gives the song a cool beat. The voices just go super well with the music, it is such a good mix. I personally love this song and it is very similar to the music I listen to now. I think the target audience of this song would for sure be the younger generation. I can't imagine older adults really enjoying it, but maybe some would. It's a great song, and it obviously has had a lasting impact if it was on Just Dance haha.

Week 10 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was Jump by Van Halen. For some reason I didn't know what song this was when I first chose it, but than when I hit play I immediately know what song it was. This song has such a good vibe. It is super upbeat and fun. Something that I thought made this different than a lot of the songs in the past is the electronic beats. I love how they used this with the electric guitar as well. I thought it was interesting how they used basically the same few chords throughout the whole song, it made it really catchy. One of my favorite parts of this song was the guitar solo towards the end. I love these guitar solos in songs and I thought it was a great touch. This song will definitely be stuck in my head for the next few days haha. Overall I love this song and it's super nostalgic for me.

Week 9 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was, I Wanna Be Sedated by The Ramones. When we listened to this in class I thought the music video was crazy but I actually really liked this song. It is really similar to my music taste, and I can totally imagine myself choosing to listen to this song in my free time. It reminds me of the type of songs that I would play on guitar hero with my family. I think it's interesting how it's basically two cords on the guitar the entire song. But with the other instruments it doesn't get boring and mixes it up a bit. I also really love the guitars in this song, especially in the middle of the song when they had a guitar solo. I also couldn't help but notice my head bobbing to this song, the beat is so catchy it's awesome.

Week 8 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was Hotel California by the Eagles. As soon as I saw this song on the list I knew for sure I wanted to listen to it, I love this song. My dad would always play this song growing up so it's really nostalgic for me. I just love how all there voices go with the music, they go so perfectly. I also really like all of the instruments that are in this song, especially the guitar. It definitely makes me wish I learned to play the guitar. This is really similar to the music I listen to now, so I would definitely listen to this in my free time, and a lot of times I do haha. The one thing that wasn't super awesome was that this song is 6 1/2 minutes long, so it took me a long time to listen to it three times. Other than that I love everything about this song.

Week 7 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week is Respect, by Aretha Franklin. I've already heard this song before so I knew I would already like it for my blog post. I love the mood this puts me in, it's super upbeat and fun! I love all the different instruments that are in this song it really adds a lot of depth to the track. One of the parts that I love is the beginning intro of this song when it's just instruments. It sets a really good tone for the rest of this song. The song is super fun, but I'm pretty sure it has a deeper meaning that isn't as fun. It talks about showing respect, which a lot of woman especially black woman didn't really get during this time period. Maybe I'm wrong but that's what I got out of this song haha. I love when songs have deeper meanings than what the average listener might pick up. Overall, I loved this song and the vibe it gives off, super fun to listen to!

Week 6 Blog Post

The song that I chose to listen to this week was, Eleanor Rigby by The Beatles. What I first noticed about this song was the beginning of this song was trending on Tik Tok recently, which I didn't even know when I chose this song. It just goes to show that these great songs really do live on forever, especially when it's by The Beatles haha. I honestly really liked this song, it sounds really similar to the songs that I listen to now, like the alternative kind of vibe. Another thing that I really liked about this song was the instrumentals in it. I like how it's not the usual instruments that are in rock bands, the instrument that stood out to me the most was the violin, I think that's what it was. I love the different parts it would play. I also loved the vocals in the song, it went with the music so amazing. I also loved when they would have the backup vocals, I liked the variation it added. Overall I loved this song, and it was super fun to listen to.
